Deeply moved and still marked by the memory of my last meeting in mid-December 2025 with Alicia and Diana, the two daughters of my cousin Charles Gonset—their beautiful faces, their smiles, their eyes brimming with joie de vivre—sparked in me the need to pay tribute to them, as well as to all the victims of this tragedy.

It is a triptych consisting of two panels, each bearing 20 masks, and a central panel with a single mask. In the center is a wire root from which hang a multitude of paper rolls, covered in red acrylic paint and marked with fine streaks of a darker red.

This root represents fire, flame, and explosion, but also freedom intertwined with the dreams of these 41 young people. On view starting June 23, 2026… at Bonmont Abbey.

The 41 masks, though identical in size, are nonetheless distinct. Cast in plaster, they are covered with paper cut from 19th-century magazines, interwoven with drawings in India ink.
