Face in Filigree

Wire

I shaped this face entirely by hand, braiding and twisting wire until it became almost a lacework. I love this raw, cold material that transforms under my fingers into something sensitive and almost alive. I built this silhouette piece by piece: the hair like an openwork veil, the round cheeks that I wanted in a deep red to bring warmth, the rosette eyes that give this face a slightly strange, almost hypnotic presence. In creating this piece, I wanted to see how far I could push the poetry of a simple wire, and how such a humble material could suddenly tell a story — become a mask, a spirit, a silent companion seeming to emerge from the wall to observe us. I love that one sees in it both fragility and strength — a balance I often seek in my work.
