What Keeps Us Standing

I created this work in wire as a living form, suspended between heaven and earth. The lines spread upwards like branches, while underneath appear equally long, visible, intertwined roots, as if we could distinguish what is usually hidden beneath the surface of the ground. Roots and branches respond to each other, in the same momentum. For me, this structure evokes rootedness: that which binds us deeply to the earth and gives us stability. Roots symbolize life, our attachment to the values, traditions and beliefs that build us. They're invisible but essential, just like the inner ties that sustain us and enable us to grow, stand and rise.
