I imagined this work around a cast-iron hand, made from a mold I created and prepared myself, then entrusted to a foundry for casting. The hand forms the solid core of the piece, a stable, anchored form. Surrounding it is a network of fine, branched wires, spreading out like roots or branches. The wires carry small, dark, translucent stones, suspended like living elements. The contrast between the permanence of cast iron and the fragility of wire creates a tension between strength and delicacy. The hand becomes an anchoring point, while the wires evoke the invisible links that bind the body to matter, to the living and to what passes through us.
