Flutter of Butterflies

Sculptures

In this work, I created an enclosed space like a small interior stage, where I gathered colorful butterflies, cut out, painted and embellished with rhinestones. I fixed them, superimposed them, almost in suspension, like a moment of arrested flight. The bright colors interact with the dark background of the box, which I painted with leaf prints from the garden. I like this idea of frozen movement, of fragile protection, like a fragment of a dream preserved in a box, halfway between a cabinet of curiosities and an intimate memory.
