Inhabited forest

In this sculpture, I've assembled rough elements, dark, almost burnt wood, standing like a silent, mineral forest. The vertical forms clash and respond to each other, creating a dense, austere, almost menacing landscape. At the foot of this mass, I placed tiny wire figures, colorful and fragile, as if trying to inhabit this imposing space. I like the contrast in scale: the monumentality of the forms and the lightness of these human presences. For me, it's a way of talking about our place in the world, about the fragility of the living in the face of greater forces, but also about the persistence of play, movement and life, even at the heart of the shadows.
