Tree of the Stones of La Forclaz

Sculptures

In this sculpture, the base is made of stones I collected at La Forclaz, in the mountains where I hike to my chalet in Switzerland. I assembled them one by one, then painted them, to give them a new unity, like a recomposed trunk. From this mineral base, an open-worked tree form is born, green and vibrant, almost light despite its solid anchorage. I love this transformation: stone, heavy and rough, becomes a support for an elevation, a breath of vegetation: a tree. For me, this work is a direct link with the mountains, a memory of place inscribed in matter, between stability and momentum.
