Unveiled Portrait

In this work, I brought out a face through layers of material, as if it were gradually revealing itself. I worked in oil paint and oil pencil, adding plaster to create relief and give the face an almost sculpted presence. The background, built up in horizontal layers, acts like a palimpsest: each passage, each layer keeps the trace of time. I like the idea of a portrait that doesn't reveal itself immediately, but appears in fragments, like a buried memory. The face thus becomes an archaeology, an identity slowly constructed through matter.
