An angel at the top

For this oil painting, I worked directly with leaves from my garden, using them as tracing paper. I laid them down, moved them around and superimposed them on the surface to reveal their shapes and veins. They imprint the canvas with their traces, like a plant memory inscribed in the paint. In the center rises an organic, dense, almost mountainous form, constructed entirely of these leaf imprints. At its summit, I've placed an angel. He stands with open arms, bright and luminous, detached from the darker background. This angel is not a distant celestial figure: he is born of the garden itself, carried by the plant matter.
