Primordial Couple

In these bronze sculptures, I've fashioned almost life-size nude bodies that stand in my garden. They measure nearly two meters and I wanted them to be simple, frontal, more like presences than statues. Their hair becomes branches, reaching for the sky and blending visually with the trees around them. Over time, the bronze takes on the same patina as the surrounding nature: moss, rain and light gradually integrate them into the landscape. I like the idea that they don't just stand in the garden, but are part of it, like silent beings, between human and plant, rooted in the earth and open to living things.
