Textile Village

In this burlap work, I've arranged a multitude of small textile figures, sewn and embroidered one by one, like the inhabitants of an imaginary village. Each figure has its own shape, rhythm and details, yet belongs to a larger whole. I love this patient, meticulous work, where each figure counts as much as the group it makes up. For me, this village is a metaphor for society: a community made up of individualities, discreet ties and coexistence, inscribed in a humble material charged with memory.
