The thirteen guardian frogs
In this work, I worked with burlap like a skin of memory, assembling fragments of old fabrics and worn paper, sewn and threaded together. Exactly thirteen little frogs are assembled and repeated like a discreet but essential motif: for me, they are protective, almost totemic presences. Around them, I let numbers, signs and crosses appear, like an ancient language embroidered in the material. Faces emerge in relief, caught in the fibers, between appearance and erasure. I love this tension between the raw and the fragile: everything is held together by assembly, slow gesture and time.
