Jute Figure

In this work, I've fashioned a character entirely out of burlap sacks, assembling, folding and sewing the material as one would construct a body. Jute retains its marks, its numbers, its traces of use, which I choose to leave visible, like a memory inscribed in the skin. The face emerges simply, almost worn, without looking for detail, to let the material speak for itself. For me, this sculpture is a tribute to my agricultural origins: the jute fabric used for potato sacks becomes flesh, a human presence, both fragile and deeply rooted.
