Fragments of Faces

In this burlap painting, I compose a surface made from fragments of old sewn sacks. From folds, seams and pieces of fabric, faces appear gradually within the matter. The features — noses, eyes, mouths — emerge directly from the canvas, as though sculpted by the folds of the fabric. These figures seem silent, almost meditative. Each bears a different expression, between gravity and humanity. With this textile artistic composition, I seek to bring presences to life from a simple, worn material, allowing the canvas to recount anonymous faces, like a collective memory inscribed in fabric.
