Cartography of Spirits
In this work, I build a composition from fragments of burlap sewn together, like a patchwork of memory. The pieces still carry the traces of their former life: printed letters, numbers, marks of wear. Around them, I add red and white stitching, beads, small pieces of wood and a few embroidered signs that become so many symbols. The shapes cut from the canvas evoke human silhouettes or protective figures. They recall ancient idols or ritual dolls found in certain popular traditions, between spiritual beliefs and protective objects. In assembling these fragments and simple objects, I create a kind of symbolic map where each element acts as a sign: a presence, a memory, a quiet talisman that connects matter, gesture and humanity.
