Painting and Faces of Burlap
In this work, faces appear gradually within the burlap. They are not drawn with precision: they emerge from the matter, as though forming directly within the weave of the fabric. The fibres, irregularities and traces of time participate in their birth. I work through touches and simple gestures to suggest these presences. The gazes, the contours of a face or the shadow of an expression reveal themselves progressively. Some seem to emerge clearly, while others remain almost erased, like memories rising to the surface.
