Totem Plant with aerial roots

Jute canvasSculptures

In this totem, I've assembled burlap like a long, living envelope, marked by strata, folds and variations in color. The body rises, irregular, almost breathing, as if it had grown slowly. At the top, two faces appear side by side, simple, barely free of the material, while the wire escapes above, tangled, punctuated by small red touches. I see these wires as inverted roots, seeking not the earth but the air. For me, this totem pole is a figure of passage, between anchorage and thought, between the weight of fabric and the lightness of gesture.
