Head Crowned with Presences

In this sculpture, I worked with Japanese paper, wrapping it like long bamboos planted around a wooden head. At the top of each one, I sewed small wire figures, fragile and silent, like an inner crowd keeping watch. The wire crosses the paper, holds it, connects it, and each figure becomes an anchor point, a discreet presence. I love this idea of a body inhabited by others, of a thought made up of multiple voices, all light, all held together by stitching and gesture.
