Nocturnal Bamboo Head

In this sculpture, I gathered my Japanese paper bamboos around a dark, almost nocturnal head. I squeezed and multiplied them, like a dense thrust springing from within. Their metal ends catch the light and give rhythm to the whole, between the softness of the paper and the firmness of the metal. I see in them a kind of mental landscape, made up of tensions, silences and contained impulses, a presence that is motionless but shot through with profound energy.
