Bamboo frieze
In this work, I lined up my Japanese paper bamboos rolled up on a black background, like a continuous, almost musical frieze. I arranged them tightly, at an angle, sometimes crossed, to create a visual rhythm, a silent vibration. Each bamboo bears its own markings, its own lines, like a patiently repeated script. I love the contrast between the depth of the black and the clarity of the paper: the shapes seem to float, hesitating between order and disorder. For me, it's an inner landscape of repetition and variation, a calm breath that runs across the entire surface.
