Silent bamboos

Japanese paper

In this work, I've arranged my rolled Japanese paper bamboos like a dense line, almost like plant writing set against the dark background. Each shape is cut, folded and marked with repeated motifs, and I've squeezed them together to create a rhythm, a breath. I like the contrast between the fragility of the paper and the graphic strength of the whole. For me, these bamboos are signs as much as stems: an inner landscape, calm and silent, made of repetition, patience and time.
