Graphic bamboos

In this work, I used my rolled Japanese paper bamboos, cut into elongated shapes that I arranged in a dense, rhythmic line against a deep black background. Each bamboo is covered with graphic motifs, almost like writing, which repeats and varies subtly. I like the strong contrast between the black of the support and the clarity of the paper, which makes the whole vibrate like a plant frieze. For me, these bamboos aren't just stems: they're signs, a way of breathing, an abstract landscape that speaks of repetition, rhythm and silence.
