A collage of nine faces

Collage & paper

In this work, I've brought together nine compositions created from 19ᵉ century papers, which I've mixed with my collages and black pen drawing. Each square becomes a face, sometimes obvious, sometimes hidden in the patterns, as if the paper's memory were trying to take shape again. I like to bring out these tiny personalities: some are gentle, others more mysterious, still others seem to speak to us in silence. Old fragments are transformed into eyes, floral crowns and ornaments that breathe new life. By bringing these nine faces together, I'm creating a small gallery of hybrid figures, born of the past but inhabited by my gesture of today.
