Branch Face

In this work, I've mixed collage and black pen drawing on 19ᵉ century paper to reveal a face that seems to emerge from the branches. The ancient motifs become a dense, flowing plant hair, as if nature itself were shaping this figure. Red flowers form the eyes, two bursts of life at the heart of the composition. A ribbon is tied around the neck, adding an almost ceremonial softness. All around, butterflies land and take flight, silent accomplices in this metamorphosis where paper, ink and imagination respond to each other.
