Copper Bamboo Forest and Box

Japanese paperBooks & Objects

This box combines painting and rolled Japanese paper, arranged like a field of bamboo. The deep black of the background creates a marked contrast with the orange and silver bamboos. This contrast is reminiscent of the light that shines through the red poles I've installed among the bamboos in my garden: a luminous punctuation in the heart of the vegetation. The vertical rhythm, the material and the contrast create a landscape that is both structured and alive, taken directly from my everyday environment.
